die Entscheidung das Substrat nicht staubtrocken (im Wortsinn) zu halten ist sicher gut. Auch wenn die nigritas aus Sommerheißen Gebieten kommen: im Winter ist es kalt, im Frühjahr zumindest zeitweise kühl (und dementsprechend taufeucht, trotz geringer Niederschläge). Wir hatten die Diskussion neulich (Suchfunktion nigrita).
Antwort eines Amerikanischen Freundes (zum verständnis meine Frage dazu):
What are the lowest nighttime temp for Lampropeltis getulus nigrita? Do you have an appropriate field guide? One chap was worried about ca. 15°C at night, which I thought was no problem whatsoever. I am not 100% sure though. Any Idea? Lowest temps e.g. in Arizona and Sonora (where I think they do occur) should be around 0°C, right?
You are more on the right track than the other fellow. I lack detailed accounts of the thermic requirements or preferences of Kingsnakes, but as this ssp (nigrita) occurs more or less throughout the Mexican state of Sonora, freezing temperatures (and below) are not uncommon there at higher elevations, and for brief periods, even in the lowlands--which are unimaginably hot during summer months. But I suspect the snakes are well insulated, buried underground or deep within crevices, during really cold weather.
Auch dort ist der Boden (nicht oberflächlich, aber in geeigneten Verstecken) lange Zeit des Jahres sicher feucht genug. Je Tiefer sie sich einbuddelt, desto feuchter wird es dort!
Trocken-warme Stellen natürlich trotzdem anbieten...
@Kleinschreibung: paß dich lieber dem Stil ein wenig an, ist langfristig besser...
